Christian West Joins Dyad Strategies as Research Associate

PENSACOLA FL – Dr. Gentry McCreary, CEO of Dyad Strategies, announced today that Christian West will be joining the Dyad team as a research associate.

West, a Doctoral Candidate in the Higher Education program at the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development, will be spearheading a research project related to diversity and inclusion in historically white fraternities and sororities. Christian’s research centers the contemporary experiences of Black students at institutions with historical legacies of slavery and segregation. He is a former fraternity/sorority professional serving as both a headquarters staff member and campus advisor. He is an alumnus and volunteer of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He holds a M.Ed. and B.A., both from the University of Virginia.

“I have known Christian for a long time, dating back to his days as a leadership consultant for Beta Theta Pi,” said Gentry McCreary. “I have always been impressed with his intellect and talent, and as an emerging scholar and researcher, his research interests are perfectly aligned with work that Dyad is currently undertaking on behalf of our organizational partners. We are thrilled to have Christian join our growing research team.”

West will serve as the lead researcher on a mixed-methods study related to diversity and inclusion in historically white fraternities and sororities. Using data from Dyad’s organizational partners, this project will identify chapters that excel in creating inclusive environments for members of color, as well as chapters who struggle in this area. Using qualitative analysis, the research team will juxtapose the experiences of members of color from those chapters in order to better understand the chapter-level variables that promote inclusion and satisfaction of non-white members.

“The data that Dyad Strategies has collected regarding diversity and inclusion in historically white fraternities and sororities is both illuminating and important, and it deserves a thorough qualitative examination,” said West. “I am excited to have the opportunity to partner with them to conduct this important research.”
